"Since the Beginning", oil on linen
Hi There! I'm so happy you're here.
In general, I prefer a viewer's focus to be on the work itself. However, I suppose I should write a bit here about my education and training since that information is relevant to creative process.
- Initially self-trained; first mastered the holding of crayons, and paintbrushes, then proceeded to produce literally hundreds, possibly thousands of drawings/paintings in the next decade. I was a child possessed.
- Great foundational elementary school art eduction at Community School, St. Louis, MO.
- Multiple Advanced Drawing & Painting Classes at John Burroughs High School, St. Louis, MO.
- Studio art classes plus Bachelor of Art in Art History, Mills College, Oakland, CA.
- Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, San Jose State University, CA.
- 25 year practice as pediatric O.T. in variety of settings. The kids kept me young and silly which allowed for freedom of expression/exploration in my parallel career of artist. The two disciplines, Occupational Therapy and Artist, were inextricably intertwined.
- Achieved Certificate of Distinction in Drawing and Painting from the London Art College. I worked hard for that!
Note: Upon reading this my son felt I was holding back on listing accolades. Perhaps he's right. Recent life events have changed my perspective. Plus, I wish viewers of my work to develop their own relationships with any given piece independently of me.
